RaPAL Advocate: North West England

Claire Collins

Claire has an ESOL background and specialises in working collaboratively with teachers, managers, support workers and learners in a range of contexts to develop learning programmes with an emphasis on language and literacies as social practices.  Since 2003, when she left further education teaching, Claire has worked freelance on adult literacy, numeracy and ESOL (ALNE) projects. Claire thinks of herself as a good trainer and facilitator as she gets lots of compliments about this part of her work (she attributes this to making sure everyone is fed well and laughs regularly during training sessions/ meetings!). Claire is an advocate of blended learning and, in the spirit of practising what she preached, she enrolled on the Lancaster University Masters in ALNE. She is nearly finished and is grateful to the team at Lancaster for many reasons, not least because they introduced her to RaPAL!
